1. Review your content. Be sure each of the pages on your Web site is unique. Search engines use percentage of original content in their ranking methods. It seems like a good idea to have your business address and phone number on each page of your site, but that actually decreases your percentage!

2. Add a blog page and get blogging. Adding new content on a regular basis—shoot for weekly—looks good to search engines. It increases the above mentioned percentage, and it allows for number 3 to happen.

3. Increase qualified links to your site. Don’t use a service that creates “hyper-linkage.” Search engines are hip to that game, and they don’t like it. Use your blog to interact with clients—their comments are a really good thing. And when you post really good content, others will link to it via social media sites and it’s those are the links that will get you noticed by the googly eyes. Don’t forget to create your own social media buzz about your latest post. Use Ping.com or a similar service to update all of your social media profiles at once, and soon the whole online world will know you’ve created a new blog post!
